Hyundai sold 14,216 Sonatas

During the month of November Hyundai sold 14,216 Sonatas in the U.S. That's a 117-percent increase over the same month last year, which is enough to place the new sedan seventh on the list of best-selling cars in the world’s largest auto market. It’s the first time a Hyundai has landed in the top ten since the Excel did it in the late 1980s. While that car achieved the feat based solely on its cheap price, the new-for-2006 Sonata has done it with a killer combination of value, safety and style.

To put the success of the new Sonata in perspective, one only needs to analyze Hyundai’s YTD sales. The data reveals that even though the 2006 Sonata didn’t start rolling off the assembly until March, it’s YTD sales are ahead of the also-popular Elantra (109,512 vs. 107,429). Aside from the Sonata, Hyundai sales are up eight percent over last year with a total of 411,991 units sold.

More details are rolling in about a new car lot coming

More details are rolling in about a new car lot coming to Spotsylvania County.

CarMax Inc., which bills itself as the nation's largest retailer of used cars, plans to open a 50,000-square-foot superstore in Southpoint II next fall. The Timmons Group filed an application on Sept. 9 to build the store, but few details were released.

The company chose the Massaponax retail development because it is a booming area with easy access to Interstate 95, spokeswoman Trina Lee said this week.

CarMax plans to buy about 15 acres that back up to Ballentraye subdivision. Purchasing land and building a superstore typically costs the company between $15 million and $20 million, she said.

The Fredericksburg superstore will employee 100 to 125 people, and will have up to 500 cars on its lot. Customers will have the option of searching the company's online database of 20,000 used cars and having their choice shipped to the store for a fee.

CarMax, formerly a division of Circuit City, got its start in 1991 with a survey of what consumers did--and did not--like about buying a used vehicle.

"They had little to say about what they liked, but a lot to say about what they didn't like," Lee said. "They wanted it to be a fun process."

CarMax officials decided to sell vehicles for a flat, non-negotiable price, and give customers five days to bring them back for a full refund if they were dissatisfied. Two years later, the first CarMax store opened in Richmond.

Today, the company continues to focus on selling used cars, but has added seven new-car franchises. These are part of, or are located next to, its used-car stores.

The Massaponax superstore will sell only used vehicles. Most will be six years old or newer and have low mileage. About half will be bought at auto auctions; the rest will be purchased from CarMax customers. All will be inspected, and many will still be under warranty. Extended warranties will be available.

CarMax currently has 67 stores. The Massaponax store is one of five superstores and six smaller satellite superstores that it plans to open during its next fiscal year, which ends Feb. 28, 2007. The company also plans to open a satellite site in Charlottesville.

CarMax is the latest store to join Southpoint II, a Spotsylvania retail complex under development along U.S. 1 by W.J. Vakos & Co. The complex also includes a Wal-Mart Supercenter, Lowe's, Starbucks and Applebee's.

BEST IN OVERALL VEHICLE SALES

Toyota Motor Thailand president Ryoichi Sasaki was a sure bet in this elite list. Not only does he preside over the largest brand in the market with 40% share, but he also holds the reins of the 30-billion-baht Innovative International Multi-Purpose vehicle (IMV) project in Thailand.

Sasaki came to Thailand in 2002 with the mission to make sure that Toyota's relocation of its one-tonne pickup line didn't run into glitches. His reign at TMT has almost come to the end, which by many accounts, has been very successful albeit the fact that Toyota has yet to win the one-tonne pickup race.

However, Toyota's supremacy in overall vehicle sales, the passenger car segment and the SUV segment remains firmly the domain of Toyota.

Yearning for new body variations

Yearning for new body variations The 3 compact car is credited with boosting sales for Mazda by as much as 50%, thanks to its saloon and hatchback models offered in 2.0-litre form and priced at one million baht. Mazda then followed up with a cheaper 3 hatchback in 1.6-litre form priced under one million baht.Ford followed suit after unveiling its Focus sedan and hatchback bodies in 1.8-litre form. Also adding spice to the segment is the Chevrolet Optra Estate which is a reasonably priced station wagon.
In the premium segment, there's the A- and B-class from Mercedes-Benz. The A-class is affectionately called the luxury version of the Honda Jazz and will be assembled locally early next year.
BMW also joined the battle with the 120i hatchback. Models from other brands are coming next year like the Toyota Yaris and the Nissan Tiida.
Car magazines Since 2004 there has been a noticeable growth in the number of Thai-language magazines with foreign mastheads. Their forte is variety and interesting literature from Thailand and abroad. Car enthusiasts now get a chance to absorb what's happening in the industry around the world. Straight news, comparisons, test drives of every kind like supercars that average Thais would never lay their hands on.
Glossy pages, colour and great layout helped expand readership. From last year, it was AutoBild from Germany, a wholly-owned foreign venture. The rest was a "spending spree" by Thai investors such as Car from Britain. In 2005 came Autocar and Top gear, also British magazines. It was rumoured that the latter also got television rights to the popular television (BBC) automotive programme.

UsedCarsPlaza.com, the internet's premier resource for consumer automotive research, announced the winners of the US Cars 2006 Most Wanted and Most Significant Vehicle.

The US Cars 2006 Most Wanted Awards recognize the vehicles the UsedCarsPlaza.com editors would choose to buy with their own money. The Most Significant Vehicle is awarded annually to a vehicle that significantly changes the rules of a given segment, creates a new niche or redefines an automaker's image.

Song "Hotel California" by the Eagles

Music Album: Hotel California by The Eagles
Date: 1976
Hotel California was the Eagles fifth album released in 1976 and probably their most recognized. It had three number one hits on it. The first three songs on this album reached number one. The first is probably what most people think when they think about the Eagles is Hotel California one of my favorites. It has an excellent guitar solo at the end with good vocals making it an excellent song. The next song, New Kid In Town, is another excellent song and features the only lead vocal from Glenn Frey on the album. The last number one on this album is Life In The Fast Lane is another rocking song with another guitar solo. Next is Wasted Time, one of my favorites on here. It has excellent piano music as well as great vocals from Henley. I song always sounds good, even the live versions. Then comes a reprise of Wasted Time on strings. Victim Of Love is the sixth song on this album and has excellent guitar music like the two others on this album. Pretty Maids All In A Row is a good song and Walsh's first song as an Eagle. Try And Love Again is a Meisner song. It is okay but it is the weakest song on the album. The last song is The Last Resort, a very good, long song about the old west. This is the best Eagles album. It is a must.

Song Hotel California

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes-Benz
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here
Since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
'Relax,' said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
but you can never leave!

Find Cheap Used Cars Online

Features "used car auctions in colorado springs" TOP Tips & Articles

Dealers may offer a full or limited warranty on all or some of a vehicle´s systems or components. Most used car warranties are limited and their coverage varies. A full warranty includes the following terms and conditions.

Anyone who owns the vehicle during the warranty period is entitled to warranty service.

Warranty service will be provided free of charge, including such costs as removing and reinstalling a covered system.

You have the choice of a replacement or a full refund if, after a reasonable number of tries, the dealer cannot repair the vehicle or a covered system.

You only have to tell the dealer that warranty service is needed in order to get it, unless the dealer can prove that it is reasonable to require you to do more.

Implied warranties have no time limits.

If any of these statements doesn´t apply, the warranty is limited.

A full or limited warranty doesn´t have to cover the entire vehicle. The dealer may specify that only certain systems are covered. Some parts or systems may be covered by a full warranty; others by a limited warranty.

The dealer must check the appropriate box on the Buyers Guide to indicate whether the warranty is full or limited and the dealer must include the following information in the "Warranty" section:

the percentage of the repair cost that the dealer will pay. For example, "the dealer will pay 100 percent of the labor and 100 percent of the parts . . ."; the specific parts and systems—such as the frame, body, or brake system—that are covered by the warranty. The back of the Buyers Guide lists the major systems where problems may occur;

the warranty term for each covered system. For example, "30 days or 1,000 miles, whichever comes first"; and

whether there´s a deductible and, if so, how much.

You have the right to see a copy of the dealer´s warranty before you buy. Review it carefully to determine what is covered. The warranty gives detailed information, such as how to get repairs for a covered system or part. It also tells who is legally responsible for fulfilling the terms of the warranty. If it´s a third party, investigate their reputation and whether they´re insured. Find out the name of the insurer, and call to verify the information. Then check out the third-party company with your local Better Business Bureau. That´s not foolproof, but it is prudent. Make sure you receive a copy of the dealer´s warranty document if you buy a car that is offered with a warranty.

If the manufacturer´s warranty still is in effect, the dealer may include it in the "systems covered/duration" section of the Buyers Guide. To make sure you can take advantage of the coverage, ask the dealer for the car´s warranty documents. Verify the information (what´s covered, expiration date/miles, necessary paperwork) by calling the manufacturer´s zone office. Make sure you have the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) when you call.
