2005 Aston Martin DB9 Buyer's Guide
What's New for the 2005 Aston Martin DB9?
Introduced in the fall of 2004, the 2005 DB9 is an impressive all-new sporting coupe and convertible from Aston Martin. It features an entirely new aluminum body structure, lightweight suspension components, a powerful V12 engine and a luxurious interior. The body and suspension enable the car to be quite nimble for its size (the coupe version weighs about 3,700 pounds) while the 450-horsepower engine can propel the coupe version from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. Inside, the handmade interior is slathered in leather and the buyer's choice of walnut, mahogany or bamboo wood trim. Of course, none of this comes cheap, with prices starting at about $155,000 for the coupe and about $20,000 more for the convertible Volante version.
Advantages of the 2005 Aston Martin DB9:
Balanced approach to luxury and performance
Stunning styling
Bespoke interior materials
Coupe or convertible format
Objections to the 2005 Aston Martin DB9:
Not as sporting as specialized sports cars or as luxurious as true GTs
Rear seats are too small to be used for adults
AutoSite's Advice:
We'd be willing to best that a majority of Americans younger than 60 years of age have little to no idea that Aston Martin sells cars in America. This is no doubt just an extra bonus of exclusivity to an otherwise fantastic car. Styling is always subjective, of course, but few are going to find anything bad to say about this truly sexy coupe. On the road, the DB9 is very agile through corners yet still solid during high speed cruising. There's plenty of power to be had, too, though 450 horsepower in today's world of mega horsepower outputs is not particularly rare. The biggest decision facing potential buyers is whether they are interested in the DB9's balanced approach or if they desire something more specialized from the sport or luxury side of the spectrum.
